Morning & Evening Routines

Bookend your day: a short morning start and an evening wind-down you will keep.

What you will walk away with

You have a 15-minute morning routine, a 20-minute evening routine and a plan for busy days.

This course is for you if

  • Your mornings start in a rush
  • You go to bed with a racing mind
  • You want routines that survive busy days

What is inside

  1. Module 1: Why Bookends Matter
Memory hook: BOOKENDS · Own the first and last 20 minutes and the middle gets easier.
    • You can't control the whole day (4 min)
    • Start from your real schedule (5 min)

Action step: For the next three days, jot down what you do in the first 30 minutes after waking and the last 60 minutes before sleep. Circle one leak and one existing anchor.

  2. Module 2: A Morning That Starts on Purpose
Memory hook: LIGHT · WATER · ONE THING · Get light, drink water, choose your one thing, before the phone.
    • The 15-minute morning (5 min)
    • Protect the first 30 minutes (5 min)

Action step: Write your 15-minute morning routine in order and a two-minute busy-morning version. Set out what you'll need tonight.

  3. Module 3: An Evening That Lets You Rest
Memory hook: CLOSE · PLAN · DIM · Close the day, plan tomorrow, dim the lights.
    • Close the day and plan tomorrow (5 min)
    • Wind down for sleep (5 min)

Action step: Write a 20-minute evening routine: close the day (list what's open), plan tomorrow's top three, then three wind-down steps. Set a 'start wind-down' alarm.

  4. Module 4: Make It Stick
Memory hook: MINIMUM, NOT MAXIMUM · Decide the minimum you'll do on your worst day.
    • Busy days, travel and kids (5 min)
    • Review and improve weekly (5 min)

Action step: Write your morning minimum and evening minimum. Schedule a 10-minute weekly routine review in your calendar.

Every module ends with a three-question quiz, and the course ends with a 10-question final test. Pass it to earn 40 learning points and the Morning & Evening Routines badge in the app.

The research behind it

Uses research on planning and sleep, including a 2018 Baylor University study where writing a to-do list at bedtime was linked to falling asleep faster. Education only, not medical advice.

Free preview: You can't control the whole day

Most of your day belongs to other people: work, family, traffic, messages. The start and the end are often the only parts you can reliably shape.

That's why routines at both ends matter. A short morning routine lets you start on purpose instead of on alarm. A short evening routine helps you close the day and prepare for sleep.

Good routines are not about waking at 4 a.m. or copying someone's hour-long ritual. They're about a few small actions you repeat in the same order, so they need little thought.

In this course you'll build a 15-minute morning and a 20-minute evening routine that fit your real life, plus shorter versions for busy days.

Key points: Own the bookends of your day · Short and repeatable beats long and perfect · Build a busy-day version too
