Unbreakable Habits

Build daily habits that stick with cues, tiny starts and honest tracking.

What you will walk away with

You have one habit attached to a cue, tracked daily, with a plan for missed days.

This course is for you if

  • You start habits on Monday and quit by Friday
  • You rely on motivation that does not last
  • You want a method based on habit research

What is inside

  1. Module 1: How Habits Really Work
Memory hook: CUE · ACTION · REPEAT · A habit is an action your brain links to a cue through repetition.
    • Habits are links, not willpower (5 min)
    • How long it really takes (5 min)

Action step: Write down three habits you already have and the cue that starts each one. Then choose ONE new habit you want to build for the rest of this course.

  2. Module 2: Pick a Cue and Make It Tiny
Memory hook: AFTER I..., I WILL... · Anchor the new habit to something you already do every day.
    • Anchor it to an existing routine (5 min)
    • Start smaller than feels useful (5 min)

Action step: Write your habit as 'After I ___, I will ___.' Then shrink the action until it takes two minutes or less. Do it once today.

  3. Module 3: Make It Easy, Make It Visible
Memory hook: FRICTION DIAL · Lower friction for habits you want. Raise it for habits you don't.
    • Design your environment (5 min)
    • Track it honestly (5 min)

Action step: Make one change to your space that makes your new habit easier, and one change that makes a competing habit harder. Add your habit to the tracker in the app.

  4. Module 4: When You Miss
Memory hook: NEVER MISS TWICE · One miss is an accident. Two in a row is the start of a new habit.
    • The never-miss-twice rule (5 min)
    • From habit to identity (5 min)

Action step: Write your fallback version for hard days and your identity sentence ('I'm a person who...'). Put both where you'll see them every morning.

Every module ends with a three-question quiz, and the course ends with a 10-question final test. Pass it to earn 40 learning points and the Unbreakable Habits badge in the app.

The research behind it

Based on habit research, including Lally and colleagues' 2010 study, where new daily habits took a median of 66 days to become automatic, with a very wide range between people.

Free preview: Habits are links, not willpower

A habit is an action you do automatically when you meet a certain cue: a time, a place, a feeling or something you just finished. Brushing your teeth after breakfast. Checking your phone when you sit on the couch.

Habits form when you repeat the same action in the same situation. Over time the cue starts the action for you, and it takes less effort to begin.

That's why willpower alone fails. Willpower is effort you spend every time. A habit is effort you spend up front so you need less later.

Your job in this course is to build strong links: one clear cue, one small action, repeated until it runs on its own.

Key points: Habit = cue + action, repeated · Repetition makes starting easier · Build links, don't rely on willpower
